About Us
We are a small family business and have worked in transportation since 1984. We have two bases, one in the Victorian resort town of Kilkee on the Wild Atlantic Way and the other in the town of Newcastle West, Co Limerick, close to the award winning Adare Manor Resort. From our bases we offer services throughout the island of Ireland. We have catered to the needs of visitors to Kilkee and Co. Clare since our father and mother started the original business, Kenny's of Kilkee. Care for the clients and attention to detail has been a core strength of our business since the beginning. We know Ireland's hidden gems and we pride ourselves on the service we provide to all clients in our care. Our business continues to grow by providing unrivalled service to the clients in our care through dedicated guides and 24/7 concierge services.
History
This company in its present form was founded by Seán Kenny and is based on his experience and knowledge. Previous to forming driverguides.ie Seán was the Transport Manager, a shareholder and the lead tour guide for Emerald VIP Services Limited. His experience in the travel and tourist industry was gleaned from a family business operating since 1984. Seán decided to leave Emerald VIP Services Limited in October 2019 after the birth of his first child and to take up a new challenge which would allow more time with his family. During his earlier life he studied history, philosophy, Irish and English at University College Galway and later attained a degree in Sports Science and Physical Education from University of North Wales. He also trained as a teacher and holds diplomas in Irish and Religion and has a love of Irish history, theIrish language and culture. Seán joined the Irish Police Service, An Garda Síochána in 2005 and holds a degree in Policing Studies. Following an injury on duty he left An Garda Síochána in 2015 returning to the family business. Seán has a knowledge of Ireland shared by few and believes that a driver guide needs to be a chauffeur, a personal assistant, a tour guide, a historian, a teacher and often a child minder and family aid. He strives at all times to engage, act, perform and dress completely professionally. Seán has been involved in the planning and security of the State Visits of President Barrack Obama and Queen Elizabeth II and in 2019 provided transport services for the visits of President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. He brings his experience in event management and transport to this business along with his love of Ireland, it's people, places and culture.
